Description
Entry from the Gulf of Trieste towards the Isonzo cannot be effected through the present river mouth, which is too shallow but via a canal excavated into the left bank called “el taio” (“the cut”), itself protected by a breakwater. This marks the beginning of the Litoranea Veneta, a lagoon route that crosses the lagoons of Grado and Marano and reaches the Tagliamento river via the Bevazzana canal, before continuing towards Venice.
