Description

Since 1972, the Filtri di Aurisina building has housed the Laboratorio di Biologia Marina ex Consorzio, a marine biology laboratory created by the University of Trieste, the Province and the Municipality of Trieste, and currently part of the Istituto Nazionale di Oceanografia e di Geofisica Sperimentale (OGS-BIO) (National Institute of Oceanography and Experimental Geophysics). Research and monitoring of the Gulf of Trieste is undertaken here, with studies of plankton, oceanographic features, fishing and fish farming, toxicology and other internationally conducted marine studies.
