Fish and food: “Al pescaturismo”

Description

Among the families that settled in the Villaggio del Pescatore was the locally well-known one of Nazario Minca, who in the 1960s founded his first fishing and mussel farming business. In 1986, the Minca brothers founded Co.L.Mi which operates 52 fish farms and a number of cages for breeding bass and bream. This project finally took a new direction in August 2002 with the opening of the first ittiturismo or ‘local fish and food’ restaurant, called “Al Pescaturismo”, and in June 2009 with the opening of the first centre for collecting and cleaning mussels in the Friuli Venezia Giulia region, called “Frutti freschi dal Mare”. In the restaurant that recalls the casoni (huts) of the Grado lagoon, typical dishes include risotto with mussels alla triestina, mussels alla scotadeo and breaded mussels.
