The Natissa
Description
The course of the Natissa, both on land and in the lagoon, follows almost the same line as the ancient Natisone and is currently fed by the river Terzo and some irrigation ditches, while in Roman times it was fed above all by the Torre and by the Natisone, which indeed gave it its name. The Natisone-Natissa had a sufficient flow for navigating in ships of a certain size as far as Aquileia. Today, the mouth is near the Nassion (a name derived from Natisone) and flows through the Mee and Taiada channels.
