Panurus biarmicus
14-15.5 cm - the male has a grey head with black “moustache”, the female is beige; long rufous tail. Present throughout the year but undergoing strong decline in nesting: currently reproduces only in the lagoon of Marano, while during migration and wintering it is also reported at the mouth of the Isonzo and Timavo rivers. For both reproduction and foraging, it frequents only reed beds, especially near river mouths and in some valli da pesca (fishing reserves).
