38-45 cm, sexes similar. Uppers grey-brown in juveniles, white underparts barred, pointed wings and fast flight. Present throughout the year, it nests on the cliffs of Duino, but can be observed everywhere in search of food. The arrival of a Peregrine falcon in the lagoon causes the landscape to erupt as all its potential prey take to flight.
