Stercorarius parasiticus
37-44 cm, sexes similar. It has several colour morphs, a dark one – almost totally dark brown – and a light one with dark cap and whitish underparts. Long wings enable it to fly very fast, especially during chases. Present from April to October in the open sea and along the coast. Does not nest in the region. Chases gulls and terns to provoke the regurgitation of food which it then eats.
